Mussel farming has become a key part of the Aquaculture success story with advanced farming techniques and equipment now being utilised as the industry develops.
North Island Mussels operates Mussel Farming operations out of Coromandel Township on the Coromandel Peninsula. The operation makes up over one third of the 27,000 tonnes per annum of mussels farmed in this region.
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to manage the Coromandel vessel fleet and shore-based facilities to advance the company vision of being the best in Aquaculture.
Reporting to the North Island Mussels Farming Operations Manager, the newly-created role of Engineering Manager will be responsible for a fleet of 6 Mussel farming vessels and 2 shore-based yard facilities across 2 business entities.
The key engineering disciplines to be managed include: stainless steel and aluminium fabrication, hydraulics, 12-24 volt and 240 volt electrics, marine electronics, diesel mechanics and general fitter works.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- a strong commitment to health & safety
- extensive experience in vessel maintenance (mechanical and structural)
- direct supervisory experience running a team of engineers
- practical knowledge of Preventative Maintenance Systems (PMS)
- effective project management
- strong interpersonal skills.
