Marinejobs is assisting an exciting project.

A vessel (composite hull and superstructure, 50m), initially built as part of a production venture by Sensation Yachts Ltd (liquidated), has been acquired by a new company which will now complete the boat to a very high standard in dedicated project premises in Henderson, to the west of Auckland.

Designed and built to DNV standards, the boat was estimated to be 35% finished overall at project inception last year and has a very extensive library of documentation.

The working project envelope is 18 months to 2 years overall (to 2020) and will call on diverse marine trade teams during that period.

Staff will be engaged under NZ employment agreements directly with the company.

In the main, we will be looking for experienced and trade certified people; additionally, some less experienced staff will be hired for more manual work and labouring duties in the interests of delivering a cost-effective build.

Project Team requirements (ongoing)

  • Supervision of the fitting out team of engineers (team size of 5-6 est.)
  • Must bring team leadership experience of working on large luxury yacht builds
  • Team duties may require some welding, and specialist welding may be sub-contracted under oversight of the team supervisor

Experienced Fitter engineer and fitter welder also required to work in the enginering team - immediate start

  • Supervision of a team of Fit out Joiners (team size of 6+ est.)
  • Supervisory experience of leading joinery/cabinetry teams in building large luxury vessels
  • All cabinet making and high-end joinery and furniture manufacture has been sub-contracted, so this team is focused on the more routine/less skilled aspects, such as installation of frames, structures and bulkheads.

All applicants must already possess the right to live and work in NZ in order to be considered.
