Overview of Role:
This company is a leading supplier for some of the world’s best Industrial and marine diesel engines brands, representing John Deere, Yanmar and Northern Lights amongst others.

We are in search of a Workshop Team Leader to join the team based at Westhaven, Auckland. 

The role will be to supervise and support all aspects of the company’s mechanical service operation.  This position has responsibility for ensuring the department is efficient, profitable will promote the services of Power Equipment.

Reports to: National Service Manager and General Manager

Start Date: immediate from November 2018

Main Responsibilities:

The Workshop Team Leader is accountable for the timely and controlled completion of the following duties:

  • Day-to-day supervision of the workshop team and allocation of work
  • Identification of staff training requirements and organising fulfilment of that training
  • The efficient running of the workshop, including adherence to all required operating procedures and practices and taking steps to resolve any non-compliance
  • Maintain job costing module data (labour, parts, etc.)
  • Preparation of quotes
  • Oversight of the workshop schedule to balance out capacity and booked jobs
  • Booking and induction of new customer jobs to the workshop schedule
  • ‘Wash up’ of each finished job and completion all workshop invoicing on a timely and accurate basis each day
  • Maintain a strong dialogue with all suppliers
  • Manage accurate outside purchasing and provide purchasing support to all workshop staff
  • Processing of Manufacturer’s warranty claims
  • Manage accurate workshop timesheet recording
  • Ensure that all workshop payroll data is accurate and is produced on a timely basis as scheduled
  • Manage adherence to the company vehicle policy by vehicle user

Required Qualifications, Competences and Experience:

  • Previous experience and strong diesel engine technical knowledge (up to trade cert. level) in a workshop environment is considered essential for this position, as you will be required to assist technicians with information and trouble-shooting advice and support, occasionally in a “hands-on” basis
  • Team Leadership and/or supervisory experience
  • Ability to perform administrative functions accurately and to deadlines
  • Understanding of Health and Safety requirements in modern workplace environment
  • Confident user of IT
  • Knowledge of job costing software (MYOB Exonet Business) preferred

Wage/Salary: Negotiable according to experience
Normal Hours of work: 07:00 – 16:30 Monday to Friday
